Here is a Bavarian Premium Beer Cardboard Sign from the Mount Carbon Brewing Company located in Pottsville, PA. This Bavarian Premium Beer Cardboard Sign is from 1941 and is in excellent condition for it’s age. It is approximately 9″ X 12″, made of cardboard, and usually would be hung on a wall from a small sting hanger.
I love the graphics of this cardboard sign with the incorporation of the Mt Carbon Brewery’s “Dutchman” mascot on the top part of the sign. The scroll-like graphics are a nice touch as well.
Signs like this one would have been hung in bars and taverns to promote the Mt Carbon Brewery’s flagship beer known as “Bavarian Premium Beer”. It was also marketed in small 8 ounce bottles at the time too.
There is actually another variation of this sign with similar graphics but in the form of a Tin Over Cardboard (TOC) metal sign. Those signs were slightly bigger and made around the same time as the cardboard ones. The cardboard signs are the tougher variations to find however.
