Here is a Gibbons Beer Bottle Tin Sign from The Lion Inc. Brewing Company located in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This Gibbons Beer Bottle Tin Sign is from the 1940’s era and is in excellent condition for it’s age. The tagline at the bottom that reads “Enjoyed Everywhere” was used by the brewery for a very short time and wasn’t printed on that many advertisement items. The Gibbons beer bottle graphic on the sign is a returnable “steinie” bottle that was used by the brewery from the 1940’s to the 1960’s.
This Gibbons beer sign is considered a TOC (Tin-Over-Cardboard) and was made by the Novelty Advertising Company located in Coshocton, OH. A local competitor, D.G. Yuengling Brewery located in Pottsville, PA also made 6 similar TOC signs for their advertising efforts featuring their flagship beers in bottles and a cone top can.
