Here is a Kaier’s Brewery Brick from the Kaier’s Brewing Company located in Mahanoy City, PA.  The Kaier’s Brewery was established by a gentleman named Chas. D. Kaier in 1880.

The brewery was in full operation from 1880 all the way up until 1920 when prohibition forced the brewery to close; but in 1933 with the repeal of prohibition they started right back up.  At one time Kaiers was one of the largest operating breweries in the country with the most beer produced per year.  In 1968 the brewery ceased operations and closed for good. Shortly there after the large copper brewing tanks were removed from the building shell.

Since 1968 the brewery building laid abandon and slowly deteriorating from age and lack of upkeep.  Eventually on March 14, 2017 the building was demolished partly due to the fact that the building was twisting from high winds and locals feared it would fall.  Excavators were brought in to level the building over the course of 3 days.

Once it was leveled a good friend of mine was able to get this Kaiers Brewery Brick for me to add to my collection.  It’s not much but it is part of a historic brewery that I have a lot of interest in.  Prior to the demolition, I always wanted to go and visit the brewery to take photos and look around but never got around to it unfortunately.  I guess I lost my chance but at least I have a piece of history from the Kaier’s Brewery…
