Here is a Keglined Beer Can Salesman Sample from the American Can Company located in New York City, NY.  This Keglined Beer Can Salesman Sample is pretty generic in the design of the can with the front reading “Beer” and the back reading the Keglined name.  It is about 2.5″ high, made of steel, and is filled with sand; it could also double as a desktop paperweight.  It is in excellent condition for it’s age.  I can’t imagine that there are too many of these still in existence.

The American Can Co. used created Keglined flat top beer cans in an effort to replace there existing connotes beer cans which were widely used at the time by various breweries.  The purpose of making flat top beer cans was not only to replace the cone top and low profile cone top also know as the J-spout but also for better preservation of the beer inside.  Keglined beer cans were coated an enamel on the inside to preserve the beer inside of the can.

In an effort to market and sell this new kind of beer can to breweries, American Can Co. salesmen were given Keglined Beer Can Salesman Sample miniature cans.  These Keglined Beer Can Salesman Sample cans would have been given to brewery executives as a “take-away” promotional item plus it was a lot easier to hand out miniatures instead of full size cans.

Personally I’m not much of a can collector but I really like this can and I’m very happy to have it in my collection.
