Here is a Lorenz Schmidt Estate Brewery Thermometer from the Lorenz Schmidt Estate, Mt Carbon Brewery located in Pottsville, PA. This Lorenz Schmidt Estate Brewery Thermometer is from the late 1800’s era and is in fair condition for it’s age. The thermometer is made of painted wood with an alcohol glass thermometer tube and forged metal supports that hold the glass tube to the wooden backer. The painted graphics on this thermometer aren’t very legible but you can still make out the text “Schmidt” and 2 small “S” logos at the top; at the bottom of the thermometer it’s a bit better reading “Lorenz Schmidt’s Estate Mt Carbon Brewery Pottsville, PA”.
Items from the Lorenz Schmidt Estate Brewery are next to impossible to find in any condition. Especially since the brewery was only in operation for a few years before it changed ownership and name to the Mellett & Nichter Brewing Company in 1908. Eventually the brewery changed ownership and names once again after prohibition in 1933; at which time it was called the Mount Carbon Brewing Company.
