Here is a PR Junior Beer Silk Banner from the Old Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This banner sign is considered a “silk” because it is made out of a nylon fabric. Banners like this one are very hard to find because they usually never last the test of time. PR Juniors refer to the Old Reading Brewing Company’s flagship beer Pale Reserve beer which was bottled in 8 ounce “junior” bottles. Banners like this one would have been hung inside of bars and taverns to advertise to patrons that PR Juniors were served. The banner shows the PR logo graphic from the brewery on the front which puts this at about the 1950’s to 1960’s. It also pictures the PR8 (Pale Reserve 8 oz bottle) to the left which I have in my collection as well.

This banner was manufactured by Hollywood Banners in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA. You rarely find these banners with the original yellow tag on the back with the manufactures information and the text “UNION MADE”.  This banner sign has that yellow tag still attached to the back.

The Sunshine Brewing Company located in Reading PA also put out banners similar to this one to compete with the Reading Brewery.
