Here are a few old Reading and Sunshine Beer Cases I just picked up over the course of the past 2 weeks from different dealers. All the cases are from old breweries local to the Reading, PA area. Two of them are from the Sunshine Brewing Company, and the rest are from the Old Reading Brewing Company advertised under various names such as Pale Reserve and Reading Premium.
All of the cases are in good to excellent condition for their age. These cases would have been used back in the day to hold beer bottles and would have been distributed to both bars and taverns as well as the public. Back then when you were finished drinking a case of beer you would return the bottles along with the case to the beer distributor for your deposit refund. The distributor would then return the bottles and beer cases back to the brewery to be reused. Overtime a lot of these cardboard cases would get damaged and thrown away from being returned and filled so many times.
I’m very happy to add these to my collection, I just need to find the right place for them as they do take up a lot of space.
