Here is a Sunshine Ale and Beer ROG Sign from the Barbey’s Sunshine Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This Sunshine Ale and Beer ROG Sign was made by the Schaefer Ross Co Inc Sign Manufacturing Company located in Webster, NY. There are 2 layers to this Sunshine Ale and Beer ROG Sign; one being the ROG glass and the other being a gold leaf cardboard and wood backer that would hold the textured graphic. This Sunshine Ale and Beer ROG Sign is considered an ROG (reverse-painted-glass) because the front glass is painted on the opposite side. The sign is about 6″ X 24″ and is framed in a wood frame. I would put a date on this sign somewhere between the late 1930’s to the early 1940’s.
Signs like this one are very, very hard to find if any condition; just through luck I was able to find 2 of these at once. I kept this one, the best one of the two found for my collection and sold the other to a good friend and fellow collector. I’m very happy to have this sign in my collection; it has been one that I’ve wanted ever since I started collecting.
