Here is a Sunshine Beer Silk Banner from the Sunshine Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This banner sign is considered is “silk” because it is made out of a nylon fabric.  Banners like this one are very hard to find because they usually never last the test of time.  Banners like this one would have been hung inside of bars and taverns to advertise to patrons that sunshine beer was on draught.  The banner show’s the sunshine sunburst logo graphic from the Sunshine Brewery on the front which puts this at about the 1950’s to 1960’s. It also pictures the old sunburst tap knob to the right which I have in my collection as well.  I don’t believe the sting hanger is original to the piece, I believe it’s supposed to be yellow with tassels on the ends.

Banners like these were manufactured by Hollywood Banners in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA.  Originally there would have been a yellow tag on the back of the banner with the manufactures  information and the text “UNION MADE” but the tag is missing.

The Reading Brewing Company located in Reading PA also put out banners similar to this one to compete with Sunshine.  They made one’s to advertise the Old Reading Beer brand as well as the brewery’s flagship beer called Pale Reserve.
