Here is a Tannhaeuser Beer Clock from the Bergner and Engel Brewing Company located in Philadelphia, PA.  This pre-prohibition era Tannhaeuser Beer Clock is from  1902 and is in very good condition for it’s age.  It is made of copper metal with brass hands and has an electric plug-in motor housed in the back. This clock was made to advertise the Bergner & Engel Brewery’s flagship beer called Tannhaeuser Beer and would have hung in a tavern or possibly the brewery itself.

This clock was made by the L.M. & Co. Jewelry Company located in New York, NY. The L.M. & Co. was also a big competitor of Tiffany & Co. during that time.  From the research that I have done on this clock turns out it is the only example of this clock in existence making it a one-of-a-kind.

The mechanism of this clock is wind up which makes sense for the age of this clock.  The back motor actually has a permanent flip key attached to the back used for winding the clock daily, although the clock motor mechanism has seized.
