Here is a Musty Ale Cardboard Beer Sign from the Continental Brewing Company located in Philadelphia, PA. This Musty Ale Cardboard Beer Sign is in excellent condition for it’s age; I’d say this sign is from between 1883 and the 1920’s era. It’s definitely a pre-prohibition era embossed cardboard sign from that era. This sign was made by the Brilliant Manufacturing Co. located in Philadelphia, PA; the same sign manufacturing company that made detailed reverse painted glass signs for various PA breweries like Lebanon, Lauer, Yuengling, Erie, Scheidt’s, and Wacker just to name a few.
There is another variation to this sign in the same size but that advertises the Continental Brewery’s “Gardiner’s Porter”. Most items from the Continental Brewing Company are generally hard to find. Not a lot of advertising pops up from this particular brewery. I’m very happy to have been able to find this Musty Ale Cardboard Beer Sign and add it to my collection; although I am still actively looking for the other Gardiner’s Porter sign to add to my collection.
