The American Joxyl Company was established in 1911 located in New York City, NY.  The American Joxyl Company began as a railroad equipment manufacturing company then in 1915 they formed an advertising sign manufacturing division. Some of their most well known advertising sign produced by the American Joxyl Co. were signs known as “Joxyl Signs”.  These Joxyl Signs were highly detailed and decorative wooden sign with pine and other soft wood veneer with graphic decals applied to the front.

American Joxyl Company had one regional signs manufacturing competitor that produced similar wooden advertising signs; that company was Meyercord Company located in Chicago, IL.

Many breweries took a liking to the signs they were producing during that time, and hired them to produced signs to promote their brewery and products.  Breweries like Robert Smith, Bergner & Engel, Ruppert, and Schmidt & Sons just to name a few.
