Here is an Oriental Show-You Sauce Sign produced for The Oriental Show-You Company located in Detroit, MI.  This Oriental Show-You Sauce Sign dates from around the 1920s era and in in excellent condition for it’s age.  The sign was made by the Aluminum Sign Company predecessor to the Leyse Aluminum Company located in Kewaunee, WI.

The company was founded in 1918 by a Japanese immigrant Shinzo Ohki who was an early 20th-century producer of soy sauce, often sold in brown, octagonal bottles. The company, which lasted until the early 1930s, marketed its “Show-You” product as a versatile ingredient for chop suey and American dishes.  The advertising of “Show-You” refers to the Japanese word for “shoyu” which is referred too today as soy sauce.
