Here is a Berghoff Beer Pin-up Sign from the Berghoff Brewing Corporation located in Fort Wayne, IN. This Berghoff Beer Pin-up Sign is from the early 1930’s and is in very good condition for it’s age.
This sign is approximately 5″ by 9″ and was was made by the American Art Works located in Coshocton, OH. The graphics on this sign depict a pin-up girl wearing a red dress that blends into the red background of the sign; the lettering and typography reads “Berghoff Beer Everytime” and includes the Berghoff Brewery crest. American Art Works produced a variety of these style signs with the subject’s clothing blending into the backgrounds primarily with the use of black.
Signs like this one would have been display on the wall of a tavern to advertise Berghoff beverages to patrons. The advertising is especially targeted to men with the introduction of the pin-up girl graphic, because as we know “Sex Sells” even during the 1930’s.
