Here is a Deppen Tip Tray from the Deppen Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This Deppen tip tray is pre-prohibition probably from the early 1900’s era. It is in excellent condition for it’s age with only a few light blemishes on the face and some of the bronze paint off the back. They would have been used in bars and taverns as a way to hold change and tips for the wait staff and bartender.
Tip trays in general are very sought after and hard to find in any condition. I’ve been looking for a Deppen Tip Tray for a while and just like that one fell into my lap; actually 3 fell into my lap and I kept the nicest one for my collection. The Deppen Brewing Company also made full size “Queen Quality Deppen Brewing Company” beer serving trays as well. Those are also pretty hard to find in good condition; I have yet to find one for my collection.
I am very happy and lucky to have this Deppen Tip Tray in my collection and will be keeping an eye out for the full size Deppen Queen Quality Beer Tray.
