Here is a Duquesne Beer Brass Sign from the Independent Brewing Company located in Pittsburg, PA. This pre-prohibition era Duquesne Beer Brass Sign dates from between 1905 to 1920 and is in excellent condition considering how old it is. It is approximately 8″ by 24″ and made of heavy brass with carved lettering into the metal.
Signs like this one would have hung outside of a tavern or distributor on a porch post to advertise Duquesne to patrons. Brass signs like this one were very popular during to time for outdoor advertising, unfortunately no too many have served the test-of-time due panically due to the metal shortages and scrap drives during World War II. This particular sign was found in a home in Pittsburgh during a renovation, it was used as a roof patch.
