The Bachrach & Cordes Company was an early sign manufacturing and lithography company located in San Francisco, CA. They produced both reverse-painted glass signs as well as lithography on paper, beer serving trays, and tin advertising signs. They also had partnerships with other sign manufacturing companies such as Dawes Manufacturing Company located in Pittsburgh, PA. Often time when you see a Dawes Manufacturing Company makers mark on a sign it is accompanied with the initials “B & C” short for Bachrach & Cordes.
They produced advertising signs for various companies primarily on the west coast including distilleries like Jesse Moore Hunt Company and Treadwell as well as breweries like Enterprise, Yosemite, Raspiller, Buffalo, Claus Wreden, Rainier, Moose, and Albany just to name a few. Sometime during the early 1900s the name of the company was changed to Bachrach & Company.
