Here is a Gerke Lager Beer Sign from the Gerke Brewing Company located in Cincinnati, OH.  This Gerke Lager Beer Sign is from between 1882 to 1912 and is in excellent condition for it’s age. This pre-prohibition era Gerke Lager Sign was made by the F. Tuchfarber Company located in Cincinnati, OH.  It is approximately 14″ x 6.5″ and is made of brass metal with black lettering and graphics on the front.

The graphic to the left bears the Gerke Brewery insignia with the G.B. Co. initials inside of a circle with the words “Strength Purity Hops Malt” around the initials.  The insignia also has a large eagle atop the “G” which is reminiscent to the brewery’s original name as the Eagle Brewery established in 1854.   On the back there is a stamp that describes the best way to keep the sign clean that reads the following “When soiled, wash with cold water, do not rub or polish”, the markers mark is also visible below the stamp that reads “The F. Tuchfarber Co. Mfrs. Cincinnati, O.”.
