Here is an Old Reading Beer Ball Tap knob from the Old Reading Brewery Inc. located in Reading, PA. This Old Reading Beer Ball Tap is made of plastic with a yellow and red enamel face. Ball taps like this one would have been used as “tap markers” in bars and taverns to identify what brand and type of beer was on draft. It is in excellent condition for it’s age. I would put an age on this ball tap around the 1940’s era possibly maybe even the late 1930’s.
The Old Reading Brewing Company made many variations of these ball tap knobs. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more to add to my collection.
