Here is a Old Reading Beer Pinup Sign from the Old Reading Brewing Company located in Reading, PA. This Old Reading Beer Pinup Sign is from 1954 and is in good condition for it’s age. The sign is made of a thick cardboard stock and is approximately 10.5″ X 14.5″ however the top has been cut about a half inch from the top. Originally the sign would have measured 10.5″ X 15″ and had an easel back so it could be stood up and displayed on a bar back or distributor’s countertop, it could also hung on the wall too.
The artwork on these pin-up signs were created by the famous and esteemed pin-up artist of the time named Alberto Vargas. The tagline on this pin up sign reads “Take it home… it’s Sugar Free” which was part of the advertising campaign that the Old Reading Brewery was running at the time. They also did other variations of this sign with different pin up models and messaging that promoted being “Sugar Free”.
The brewery made a few variations of these Old Reading Beer Vargas Pin-Up Signs with 3 different pin-up models on them. They also made cardboard bottle toppers with similar pin-up artwork on them for display in taverns and distributors.
