Here is an early Pagoda Malt Syrup Label from the Reading Malt and Hops Company located at 914 Penn Street in Reading, PA.  This Pagoda Malt Syrup Label dates during prohibition from the 1920s era and is in very good condition considering how old it is.

Pagoda Barley Malt Syrup was a product produced during prohibition that was similar to “near beer” and was regulated having less then one half of a percent of alcohol by volume.  If you notice across the top it reads “Light Hop Flavored”; in addition Reading Malt and Hops Company also produced “Special Dark Hop Flavored” and “Medium Hop Flavored” barley malt syrup under the Pagoda Brand.
