Here is a Private Cellar Lighted Sign from the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery located in Peoria, IL. This Private Cellar Sign is from the 1940’s era and is in excellent condition for it’s age.
This is a bar back “cab light” style sign (the cab light style refers to the similarity to a light fixture off of a taxi cab) that advertises Hiram Walker’s Private Cellar Blended Whiskey 90 Proof. It is approximately 17″ wide and was made by the Cincinnati Advertising Product Company located in Cincinnati, OH. This Cincinnati Advertising Product Company sign is made of a mirrored face mounded on a wooden base with a metal reflector shroud on the back. The mirrored face displays the advertising only when it’s lit, and when it’s off it appears to be a regular mirror; when the sign is lit, the graphics appear almost three dimentional.
There are actually two variations of this sign; the other variation advertises Hiram Walker’s Ten High Whiskey. I am actively looking for the Ten High Whiskey variations to add to my collection; please contact me if you have one.
