Here is a Sunshine Brewery Shuffleboard Trophy was presented to the Western Berks Shuffleboard League hosted by the Sunshine Brewing Company located in Reading, PA This Sunshine Shuffleboard Trophy is from the 1930’s era nd is in excellent condition for it’s age. It is approximately 10″ X 14″ and is made of pot metal, wood, and wooden bakelite with engraved brass plaques. on the center plaque is displays all the players of the Shuffleboard League and the bottom plate reads “Sunshine Brewery 1st Half Winner Western Berks Shuffleboard League”
Local breweries held a lot of these competitions and events for brewery employees and the public as a promotional marketing effort. I have other trophies in my collection similar to this one, one of them being a Sunshine Brewery “Rivercade” trophy which I believe was some kind of river boat regatta event; I also have a pair of binoculars in a leather carrying bag with a plaque that reads Old Reading Brewery “Doubles” which I believe is a trap shooting competition.
